Monet Interview | Put Me in the Picture | Feb. 2007

*Introduce yourself

Hi, I’m singer/actress Monet!

*what made you want to start singing?

Well, I always would make up songs when I was little! When I was born actually, the doctors came in from across the hall because I was screaming so loud, and they said “Wow that baby has some lungs! She’s either gonna be a singer, or a lawyer!” haha… Well as you can tell, I turned out to be a singer! I started singing in church musicals, and built up from there and it has been the best thing that has happened to me! I LOVE IT!

*Was it a hard adjustment for your family or were they supportive of your career choice?

Well, my dad is a stuntman/actor so he understands the business! My mom also used to be in the business as an actress, so she also understands! They are so supportive of me, and I couldn’t be doing it without them. They are the best!!!!

*You’re widely known for being on “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody”, what was it like being on the show and performing “2 of them”?

WOW!!!!! Is all I can say! Its been such a HUGE blessing! The cast was amazing, they welcomed me into their family and it felt so awesome! Each and every cast member is so amazingly nice, and it was such a joy to work on that show! It was SOOO much fun to actually sing MY song that I wrote! IT was just so much fun and I wouldn’t take it back for the world! I also got A LOT of my fans from being on the show, and have met some amazing people from it! SO YAY! ?

*What was it like being on “Bernie Mac” and also it hasn’t aired yet, but “Lincoln Heights?”

Bernie Mac was actually one of my 1st jobs! What was SO funny is that the week before i filmed Bernie Mac, I was actually working on this pilot presentation with some awesome people, and the casting director on Bernie Mac was actually the casting director on the pilot! So me and two girls from the pilot got to play the mean girls in Bernie Mac!!!! IT WAS SO MUCH FUN!! And Lincoln Heights was also so much fun! You always get to meet so many cool people working! Be sure to catch the Lincoln Heights episode! I think you guys will enjoy it! ?

*How excited were you when you won artist/band of the year from xndradio.com?

UM… CAN I SAY VERYVERYVERYVERY EXCITED!!!!!!!!!! I was so surprised because it was so SOSOSO close! People told me I won by like 1 or 2 votes and I was SO thankful and so grateful! I actually have the award sitting right beside me right now! SO THANK YOU SOO MUCH to everyone you voted! I love you guys!

*Would you ever want to pursue Broadway after having the experience with “Grease” and “the sound of music?” or do you want to focus just on the singing?

Well I LOVE Broadway stuff! I would definitely love to do some Broadway later on in my career! ?

*You’re currently working on your CD, have you worked with any big names on the album and do you have a tentative release date?

Well, were still just working, working, working away!! I’m actually not allowed to release any information about it at this time, but hopefully everyone will enjoy it! ?

*Do you have a message for your fans?

YESS!! I LOVE YOU GUYS SO, SO, SO MUCH! I wouldn’t be where I am without you guys, you guys basically make my life, and I cannot let you know that enough! Seriously! I love you to death! Thank you SO much for everything! Jess and Amy thank you so much for giving me this interview, you guys are awesome!! I’m going to leave you with a quote I thought up a while ago, it means a lot to me and I hope it means a lot to you guys too!

“If a dream is running away, go catch it!”
