If you’re looking for an excursion while in Mexico, snorkeling with the whale sharks is a must do!
The season runs mid-May through mid-Sept.Â
I booked my tour through Mexico Whale Shark (linked below) and would 100% recommend them! They offer tours from Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Riviera Maya, Tulum, Isla Mujeres, Cozumel & Holbox Island.
On a typical day you can expect to see anywhere from 20-50+ whale sharks. But please be aware that this is not going to be the case every single day. I happened to go on a day where we only spotted 2 the entire day. There were multiple tour boats crowding around those 2 we spotted, which is why you only see 1 whale shark photo in this post! It was still an amazing experience nevertheless and I plan to do it again in the future!
Biodegradable Sunscreen: This is the only type of sunscreen you are allowed to wear while swimming with the whale sharks!Â
Dry Bag/Waterproof Phone Protector: You will be on a boat, keep your things dry!
Snorkel Mask: Equipment is provided for you, but I prefer these type of masks, so much easier to use!
Waterproof Camera: I use the GoPro 7
Water Bottle: Yeti products are perfect for being outdoors/in the heat. If you don’t have one yet, you are missing out..I take mine everywhere!
