Alyson Stoner Interview | Put Me in the Picture | April 2008

*Introduce yourself.
Hey, everyone! I’m Alyson Stoner, nice to meet ya!

*You grew up in the Toledo, Oh area ,did you ever think that coming from such a small area you’d be where you are today? Do you have an encouraging words for the young kids who are coming from small areas like ours that may be discouraged?
The opportunity to travel across country to pursue my dreams is still unreal to me. I never thought Toledo was small until I flew to L. A. But, for anyone who feels discouraged, they have to know that they were put on this earth to do amazing things, and any less than that is not living to their fullest potential. So, work hard and make your dreams a reality.

*What was it like dancing in Missy Elliott’s videos “Work it” and “Gossip Folks” and then performing with her at various TV events?
Missy was an extremely gracious person and I owe her a ton for giving me the chance to do what I love on stage. Performing is so exhilerating, and I’m so grateful for the past shows I’ve done.

*Dance seems to have been your original passion, did you ever think you’d get into acting?
When I went to a convention for acting, dancing, and modeling, I knew I wanted to do any and every form of entertainment.

*Going back in your career-You landed a roll in Cheaper by the Dozen, can you tell us how that opportunity felt especially since you’d be working alongside Steve Martin?
Oh wow. He’s a legend, so I was absolutely honored to work with him (and Bonnie Hunt, too). He’s intelligent, focused, and professional, and I respect him so much!

*Do you enjoy doing voice overs (such as Phineas and Ferb and Lilo and Stitch) or do you prefer something where you’re actually infront of the camera? How different are voice overs from an actual on camera roll?
I don’t have a favorite, because I’ve had great times doing both. For on-camera work, I get to use my whole body to express myself, whereas in voiceovers, I have to somehow portray a character and ALL of her emotions with my voice. Voiceovers are a little tougher, but they also allow me to go to the studio in my PJ’s and record!

*You’ve worked on the Disney Channel Series The Suite life of Zack and Cody and That’s so Raven and Nickelodeon’s Drake and Josh, what was your favorite to do? Whether it’s based on your character or the cast you worked with.
I’d say Suite Life, because my character, Max, was a tomboy, and I’m an athlete in real life, too. And, the cast is like a second family to eachother.

*A Few months ago you wrapped up filming on the highly anticipated Disney Channel original movie Camp Rock, can you tell us what it was like to film the movie?
Oh man, what a movie! The cast was so unique, the music is fantastic, and I’m so excited for you all to see it… I can’t wait! I learned so much and met so many genuine talented people!

*Do you have any highlighted moments from filming Camp Rock? Any scene work that just stands out, or fun times while hanging out on set?
Well, the Jonas’ hosted a couple dance parties, where the cast went to their cabin (we were staying in cabins), and we blasted music from their iPods! So, we basically danced the night away… fun stuff!

*What was it like getting the opportunity to work with Kevin, Nick and Joe? We know how much fun they are, so we’re sure there is a story or two!
Story or two? Try 10000! And they’re all positive ones, because the boys are really talented and hilarious to work with. They have a strong family support system, which is great to see in this business!

*What are you looking forward to the most about 2008? Do you have any upcoming projects you’re working on or will be out soon?
Yes, this summer is going to be so fun! I have Alice Upside Down (thealicemovie. com) coming to dvd, as well as Camp Rock in June, my DANCE shoe, THE Alyson Stoner Project (cool beans… ), Phineas and Ferb, and the Disney Channel Games in April! Hopefully, I’ll get a chance to really pursue my singing, also!

*Tell us about The Alyson Stoner Project.
The ASP is a dance video hybrid, blending together many different styles of entertainment (dance, music, etc. ). We’re finishing up the website, so you’ll have to check it out for all of the exclusive info, videos, and interactive stuff!

*Message to your fans.
Wow… I could go on for hours… First, thank you to everyone who’s encouraged me and believed in me. Second, always remember to stay focused, keep your good morals, and be a big believer in yourself and others. Lastly, just make sure you don’t let anyone take away what makes you an individual… you can do anything you want, anytime you want, so make the most of life!
