The Heaven Switch Interview | Put Me in the Picture | March 2012

-How did The Heaven Switch get started? In working on a new record I really wanted to do something new, something fresh. And the songs that I was writing felt more like a band. So, it kind of started as a new side project that turned into a new band.

– Your debut album was released earlier this year (2012), can you tell us a bit about writing & recording the album? This process what much different than what i’ve done in the past. I worked with 3 different producers, got to write with some incredible people. It took the better part of an entire year, to write and record this album. It was definitely a labor of love, but so worth it. I’m really proud of the record.

-Where is your music available for purchase for those who are interested in getting your new album? You can get on iTunes, Amazon, Google+. And I’m sure you can pirate it somewhere as well.

-Fav. song on the album & why? I probably like You Said as my favorite. It was the last song I wrote for the album, and to me had a different feel to a lot of my other songs. I felt like I stretched myself sonically with it. And so, it’s always been a favorite of mine.

-In the future, who is someone you’d like to work with or play a show with? It’s always been a dream of mine to work or play with Dave Grohl.  He’s such a badass and good guy. It would be fun to hang with him on a musical level and a personal one.

-Fav. song to perform live? I love performing Stolen Car. It’s most people’s favorite and it just has so much energy.

-Most embarrassing thing that’s happened to you while onstage? One time my strap broke on my guitar and my guitar smashed to the ground. It was the first song of the set. Wasn’t the easiest to recover from that one, ha.

-What is something about each of you that people may be surprised to find out? I’m actually an avid runner. Boarder-line obsessive. Also, despite conventional wisdom about musicians waking up after 12pm. I like to get up early, not that early, but at a decent hour.

-When you aren’t making music/playing shows, what do you like to do in your free time? Well like I said, I love to run. It’s completely opposite of music and it’s my time to just turn off my brain and not think about anything. But when i’m not doing my own shows and music, I write with a lot of other artists.

-What is something you’d really like to see or do in your lifetime? I’ve always wanted to be able to go to Africa and help with some of the organizations out there. I’ve known people who have done it and they all have said it’s life changing.

-Fav. tv show or cartoon growing up? Oh man, I loved the Thunder Cats

-If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would buy? I would buy my parents a house where ever they’d want, make them retire and take care of them for once.

-Any last words/ message to your fans:  I’m just always so thankful for all the support of people who listen to my music. That above all, is the most rewarding thing to have.
