-Introduce Yourselves:
Andrew Cook, I play drums.
-How did you guys get together and form the band?
Nick started it as a solo project, but soon realized he wanted to form a full band. Through a series of serendipitous connections via friends and producers, the lineup came together.
-Who are some of your influences?
We have a vast array of influences, from classic rock to country to pop to everything in between. We quite literally listen to every style of music.
-How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?
I always tell people it’s pop rock. That’s the most succinct definition I’d say.
-You guys are currently playing shows on Warped Tour (2010) & will be touring with Hanson soon, what can everyone expect from your set on each of these tours?
Well only Nick and Justin are on Warped, and they’re doing acoustic performances daily for contest winners, and doing signings at the FBR tent. So go say hi to them! As for Hanson, I expect it to be unlike any tour I’ve ever done. It’s the only time we’ve ever been the sole support band for a tour, and we’re really excited about that.
-For the Hanson fans out there, do you guys have a fav. Hanson song?
My favorite song is actually their single off their new record, “Thinkin’ Bout Something.”
-What is the most embarrassing thing thats happened to you while performing?
I’ve nearly blacked out from mild heat exhaustion and totally lost concentration on what I was doing, and completely lost where I was in the song. Not fun!!
-Fav. song to play live:
“On your side.”
-Who is someone you would like to work with or play a show with in the future?
Tom Petty, on both counts.
-Fav. movie of all time:
Adaptation.
-What is something people may be surprised to find out about you?
I play guitar, and am currently learning piano as well.
-What is something you’d really like to see or do in your lifetime?
I want to go to Egypt to see the Great Pyramids and the Sphinx in person. I also want to meet Tom Petty and Elvis Costello.
-Fav. artist/group of all time & your fav. song by them?
Death Cab for Cutie, “Marching Bands of Manhattan.”
-One song -or- cd you own that may be embarrassing to admit to:
Well I don’t really think anyone should be embarrassed about listening to anything they like, so I don’t really have a good answer for that!
-What was your fav. cartoon or tv show while growing up?
The Simpsons!
-Any last words/message to your fans?
We have a deluxe edition of our record out now, pick it up on itunes! It has four bonus songs on it that I think you’ll all love. Check out www.arockettothemoon.net, and follow us on twitter, @ARTTM. thanks!
