Can you introduce yourself?
My name is Kevin G. Schmidt. I’m twenty years old. Currently an actor, writer, director in the city of angels.
When did you decide you wanted to pursue a career in acting?
I booked a job when I was ten where my “girlfriend” shot my mom in her bedroom. The director called “cut”, and the lady playing my mother bounced up and went to craft service! A business built on make believe, I found my calling.
Has your family been supportive of your dreams?
My family has never lived by any standard. Change and thinking outside the box has been our way of life. As long I’m dedicated and passionate, they’ll support me. At this point, I’m so confident in my pursuit that anyone support is icing on the cake. I’ve found my happiness
You’ve been in movies such as Cheaper by the Dozen and the Butterfly Effect-what was it like being in such well known films and working with such actors as Ashton Kutcher and Steve Martin?
I’ve been fortunate to work with a lot of cool and interesting people. The pleasure is connecting with them on a personal level. When fame is taken out of the picture, their normal people like you and I.
You’ve appeared on many TV shows and had a long run on the Young and the Restless-which do you prefer TV or Movies?
TV is great because it’s scheduled and you know if you have a job or not! Movies can allow you to travel the world and live spontaneously. I enjoy them both for different reasons. Never would I want to choose one over the other.
You’re currently part of the Alyson Stoner Project-can you tell us about that?
I wrote, produced, and directed the “ASP”. It’s more a part of me than anyone else in the production! It was a creative outlet for me to practice and learn the skills I’ll need for my future. I’d love to write, star and direct my own projects very soon!
You starred along side Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, Robert Adamson and Nick Braun in Princess Protection Program. Give us your take on the movie. Are you looking forward to the release this summer?
I couldn’t have asked for a better DCOM to be a part of. I’ve distanced myself from the mouse cause it slaps you with a “tween” label. I started in this business to push the boundaries as an actor. Play meaty roles of all ratings. “PPP” has more heart than any DCOM I’ve ever seen. A feel good movie about finding your true self. I’m stoked for everyone to see it, came together extremely well.
We can expect to see you in the Alvin and the Chipmunks-The Squeakquel-Can you tell us about this movie and your Character Ryan?
The Chipmunks go to high school in the squeakuel! I’m the star quarterback who makes life … tough for the boys.
Do you have any other projects that you’re working on that you’d like to share with us and the readers?
I have a handful of projects in the works. Starting the second season of my web-series, “Poor Paul”. Awaiting a pickup letter from Lifetime for my pilot with Valerie Bertinelli and Anjelah Johnson. Writing, producing and starring in the first digital cookbook. Also a couple scripts I wrote in development. Staying as busy as possible!!
You’ve been busy working-what do you like to do in your spare time?
I just got back from hanging with my girlfriend on tour. She’s opening up for Britney Spears on the circus tour. Kimberly from the Pussycat Dolls. Cooking, physical activity, gardening.
What type of music are you into/favorite band/artist?
Alternative Rock fan! Death Cab For Cutie, Matt Pond PA, Incubus, Third Eye Blin… I can listen to about anything but country
Favorite place to shop?
Not a big fan of shopping so I like to knock it out in one swoop. Macy’s does the deed, or American Rag.
Favorite movie?
I don’t have a favorite movie. There are several good ones out there!
Do you have a message you’d like to share with the readers and your fans?
I’d like to thank my fans and your readers for the support. I have a YouTube, Myspace, Facebook and Twitter you can keep up with me on. Best wishes on a successful year among trying times!
