*Can you introduce yourselves?
Eric Miker (guitar vocals) orig from Shinnston, WV
Boone Daughdrill (drums) orig from New Hebron, MS
Josh Reedy (Lead Vocals, bass) orig from Riner, VA
Brian Buun (guitar vocals) orig from Christiansburg VA
*Were you guys in any other bands prior to DecembeRadio?
Brian and Josh grew up together and were in different bands together.
Faultless peach, consider this,7th day rest and soul divine. Eric was in a
praise and worship band called twist of faith in high school Boone played
in a secular cover band called big daddy rabbit and the cane cutters.
Brian and Josh met Eric as they all played together behind a christian
evangelist named Billy Wayne as his backup band. The band traveled on the
old ninja turtles tour bus that had been since painted pink. They then met
Boone through a lead given to them by their producer Scotty Wilbanks (third
day,newsong,overflow)
*You’re getting ready to start the Generation Rising tour with Superchick,
Krystal Meyers, Nevertheless and Group 1 Crew, are you looking forward to
it?
We are definitely looking forward to the tour, we were on shoutfest with
all of the bands except for group 1crew and we played a show in FL with
them this past weekend, so we are looking forward to playing with these
bands on this springs tour.
*What was it like attending such a huge musical event like the Grammys?
It was very surreal, seeing all of our musical heroes that we loved so
much but instead of watching them perform we were there for the exact
same reason they were. Unfortunately we did not win as Jonny Lang won
the award in our category but we were still very honorerd to just have
been nominated.
*What are you hoping 2007 brings?
We are just looking forward to playing more shows, releasing more singles,
hopefully winning a few of the dove awards we are nominated for, we are
definitely looking forward to playing some international shows in the near
future.
*You were rated one of the top bands on christianmusictoday.com how cool is that?
That is very cool, we have been blessed with many awards and honors, we
were also on BILLBOARD magazines top 10 bands to watch for 2006 along with
many of today’s top pop stars.
*If given the chance to tour with anyone, who would it be?
Wow, that is a tough question, we are open to tour with anyone, since Scotty our
producer and great friend is in the band Third Day and our musical
styles are somewhat close it would be great to do a tour with them.
*Was being in a band something each of you always wanted to do
The other guys (Brian, Josh, Boone) started playing very young. My dad always
played music, but I was more of an athlete, jock type guy and didn’t
really start playing music until the age of 16 or 17.
*Who are you inspirations? (they dont have to be musicians)
We are all inspired by our families and pastors that love and support us to do what we do. As far as music, we all grew up on our dads old record collections, alot of
classic rock stuff, Aerosmith, Black Crowes, Journey, Beatles, Boston and
more. Being that we were all from small towns we didn’t really have much
Christian music growing up.
*Favorite thing about performing live?
To be there and have a chance to make people smile and encourage them and also give them a message of hope and love through our music.
*Your cd is amazing, what was your favorite part about recording this
album?
Finally getting to put down our hearts and thoughts for others to
hear. Also what was fun was all the late nights and red eye
flights/emotional/physical abuse it took to drag all of this stuff out
of our bodies that we didn’t even realize was possible.
*Do you feel like you have to meet a certain standard by being in a christian band?
I definitely feel like we have too live up to a standard just by calling
ourselves a Christian. I am constantly reminded of the verse that says we
have to be careful of what we do so that it does not cause another to
stumble. When we stand on that stage we are representing Christ with our
lives, music and everything that we are.
